[ One of the things that Corrin has learned since hanging around Edge is that Cloud... Likes to keep busy. At least that is the nice way of putting it. Yes, he does make time for others, but the man really does have to be constantly doing something. Now the princess realizes that Cloud can be a little awkward. A little shy and very reserved in comparison to the rest of his friends. But surely there has to be moments where he takes time for himself to recharge, right?
Apparently... Not so much. When Corrin thinks to ask said friends, all of them seem to not look directly at her. It's Tifa that talks about how she does worry from time to time - but less now. Yet Corrin also realizes that... No one really seems to tell Cloud off about continuously working? They express concerns, but knowing Cloud's personality where is the push? Well that just puts it into Corrin's mind that she is going to probably have to do something about it.
She works with the others, making the arrangements. Tifa is careful not to take any more deliveries ( or other odd jobs ) after a certain date. Cid and Yuffie volunteer their services as well. Yuffie for keeping the man distracted and Cid will take care of traveling. Corrin is quick to pack what she believes that they are going to need ( because this is a vacation and she isn't going to allow an excuse of "I don't have anything ready" to stop them ). She then loads them up onto a smaller plane - Cid's favored one would be too obvious! - and then Corrin corners Cloud with a soft smile on her face. ]
Sorry. It's... Kind of a kidnapping?
[ Since she is also going to use a ribbon to tie around his eyes. Is Corrin using her sway over Cloud to get her way? Absolutely! That's how they are making this trip. With Corrin not answering any questions and not even giving Cloud a clue as to where they are going or for how long. Now the princess does chatter about how she thinks that this is for the best. That everyone worries about him and thinks he doesn't do a good enough job taking care of himself. How she agrees with them, to some degree so that's why this is absolutely necessary. Corrin also reassures him that he will enjoy this.
Even after they land and Corrin waves good bye to accomplices, that ribbon isn't removed. Nope! She just continues to guide Cloud along with her hand - even if all of the noises and the scent of salt water on the air probably gives it away. It's not until they are in the room proper that she apologizes and removes the ribbon so that Cloud can see. ]
[ In another time, Cloud keeping busy with his work would have been cause for a deeper-seated worry. Practically living between towns on his delivery routes, lost in his thoughts all alone, there was a time where he used it as an excuse to keep running from his past mistakes— drifting without any sense of purpose because all he knew was how to keep going. Not to give up yet having already done so... Thankfully, even before he found himself whisked away to the planet of Prismatica years prior, that leg of his journey was well and behind him. With the remaining Beasts of Calamity permanently felled and the link between worlds stably maintained, it meant that the Moonblessed could return to the lives they knew of their own accord.
It also meant that one particular Nohrian Princess could take matters into her own hands when she ventured into the world of Gaia to spend time with her old companions, among them a man who promised that no matter how far they would go...
That he would always come back for her. And though he'd fulfilled that promise to Corrin with the fleeting meetings back in Lunatia, work had...kind of consumed up to the point that he forgot just how long he had been doing this for. It became routine! A rhythm for the once-Sanguine swordsman. Life never stopped turning once everyone had access to their worlds; not only did he have a family to help provide for, but a business to maintain. Just how he started his branch of Strife Delivery Service in the heart of Lunatia. Clearly, he worked a little too hard this time. To the point that appropriate "punishment" was in order when Cloud was effectively cornered by a visiting princess. Could it have been just as easy to bring everyone else along? Yes...but given how close that the two had become over the years, this was just as much of a vacation for the acerbic man as it was for the bright-eyed, wonderous girl who found a way to render him weak every time, disarming him with a soft smile as he huffs a sigh and shakes his head. ]
Somebody save me.
[ His deliverance was as dry as always, yet the gentler smile that crosses his lips was anything but. Genuine. Always happy to see Corrin again...always wishing that every visit was longer than the last. Their worlds had become effectively interlinked, yet a well-kept secret amongst their circle for the sake of preserving their times. He "gives up" with nary a fight, hands up as the ribbon is tied around his eyes and her sway has him going on this impromptu journey across the ocean before touching down on a landing strip. He trusts her. He also apologizes if he worried her. But it wasn't just Corrin...it was Tifa, Denzel, Marlene, even his other friends who knew that he was in a better place but didn't have the heart to push him to stop working.
Business wouldn't die overnight! And...if Cloud was being perfectly honest with himself, as the hustle and bustle of vacationers, hotel staff and a sea breeze filling his lungs...
He has a lot of catching up to do with his girl. And as she finally removes the ribbon, his eyes scrunching a couple times as he gets used to the world of light, their luxury sea view suite leaves him wide-eyed as he wasn't quite prepared for this. It took a lot of trust to bring him all this way without removing that blindfold, but it's safe to say this was the first time he's been staying in one of the fancier resorts on this beach. ]
You're telling me... [ All the way to...? ] Costa del Sol?
[ Cloud was already made aware that it was just going to be the two of them, and he initially imagined maybe...Junon? Kalm? But the princess went above and beyond for him. Their luggage has already been taken care of for them, waiting by the oh-so-spacious King bed. For all intents and purposes, they're settled for a private getaway. ]
Wait... [ The gratitude and thanks will come in spades. Don't fret that as his hand brushes over the edge of the bed, the temptation to just dive right back on it mounting. Cloud's been here before himself! But... ] You've never been here before, have you?
[ Which means that when it came time to head down, he's going to hafta make sure he shows her around! ]
[ It doesn't matter where they end up, honestly. They don't have to meet at Lunatia or anywhere on her world. There are some things that she hasn't mentioned - such as a promotion from princess to queen - but how could she ask him to leave behind such a charming family? Sometimes things like blood ties just don't matter. Even Corrin can see that they all love and support one another. So that's why she will come to him and will continue to do so, if the need arises. Even his dry delivery isn't enough to put a damper on her spirits and determination, for Corrin sees that soft smile and the glint in Cloud's eyes. That's more than enough for her!
Thankfully she also realizes the measure of trust that Cloud has given her. Doubtful that he would have just been still on the plane, allowing her to get her way, if it had been anyone else but Corrin or one of those kids asking. Maybe she needs to play some pranks on him like this more often. If he is going to be this gentle about it.
Though even she is impressed by the room. Like the excitable thing she is, Corrin looks around. Darting from one item to the next. Even flinging the doors to the balcony open and taking a deep breath in. ]
When I asked where we should go, this is the place that everyone suggested. They said that you've been here before, but didn't really get to enjoy yourself like a tourist should.
[ Corrin turns around to Cloud, grin hurting her face with as wide as it is. So he is happy about it! Surprised! Good, that's what she had wanted. And maybe Cloud is just running his hand over the edge of the bed, but Corrin is just sitting down. Right there. Kicking her bare feet. ]
But no, I haven't. Are you going to take me around to tour the sites?
[ Knowing that the once Nohrian Princess had come from a background where this style of architecture and technology was foreign to her, seeing her flutter to and fro around their suite like a busy bee sparked more than just a gentle smile from her partner. It spurs a trace of laughter, seen in the shake of his shoulders as he waits for her to come back around. Whimsical, not innocent yet having such pure reactions... It relights a warmth in his heart in ways that he hadn't felt for years. ]
Well...they weren't wrong.
[ The last time they passed through Costa Del Sol, they had a brief run-in with Hojo of all people before they moved on towards Mt. Corel. Gods, her smile was contagious, his own broadening a smidgeon more for her when their eyes meet upon her as she parks her rear straight on that bed. Hand on his hip, he cants his head before sighing through his nose. Did she have any idea just how charming she was? From day one since they met in the illusory space that resembled the church in Sector Five... Even if he never saw her again after that, the dragon never would have left his memories. What can he say? She's one hell of an influence on him. To the point that he decides to join her, letting go of what few restraints he's kept on himself not just sit down, but: ]
Hup—!
[ He leaps back until his back hits the luxurious mattress with a bounce, hands over his head before he arches his back in a bid to get comfy upon settling down. Bright sapphire hues tilt down towards wherever Corrin may be on the bed, his relaxed expression following suit when he gives her his answer. ]
Yup. [ He'll show her around proper. ] Till you feel like you're getting the royal treatment.
[ Don't think that she doesn't see how his shoulders shake a little. It pleases Corrin to see Cloud drop his defenses and open himself up to her. This man allows her to see parts of himself that others do not. Cloud has given Corrin his heart and she treasures it. She wishes to hold it close to her own, protecting it as best as she is able. That goes for those little bit of laughter and the smiles that speak of a kind and gentle heart. ]
Then we'll take time to enjoy it now. So if there is something you want to do, you better let me know.
[ Since Cloud is the sort of person to just go with the flow. Even if he acts annoyed or put out, he is someone that caters to the needs of others. Corrin wants to make sure that this is something for Cloud, not necessarily for her.
Which means she is happy to see him also take to the bed. Though the dragon would really prefer he strip down a bit beforehand. It can't be comfortable laying in all of that gear. It's why she is undoing the clasp around the mantle that she wears. Then Corrin is laying back on the bed as well. Though she doesn't stay laying about on her back. Corrin rolls onto her side, hands tucked under her head as she looks at Cloud. ]
This is about you. If anyone needs the "royal treatment," it's this man who tries to be there for everyone else.
Been a while since I've actually stopped here. I'm usually passing through if I got a longer delivery.
[ So anything that they could discover and find here, assuming anything has changed since his original journey a few years ago with the others, was going to be as refreshing for him as he could only hope it was for the princess. But it wasn't just about what they did recreationally around this beachside resort... As she lies back on the bed and rolls on her side to look at him, he can feel colour rising in his cheeks as the weight of this vacation was sinking in. It's for him. It's for her.
It's for both of them because of her. And his heart was beating a little faster just thinking about that. After all, it wasn't very often that the two had the chance to enjoy some real privacy. Not since their stay on Prismatica or the fleeting couple chances they had when traveling outside of Edge. The realization of that has him clearing his throat and rolling over onto his own side, a balled up hand propping his head up as he gazes upon her with a softened admiration. Something that he usually keeps for closed doors too. ]
Yet here you are...crossing worlds for me.
[ No one else was here to see...which meant that the guard he keeps up everywhere else was practically done and dusted as he reaches out and gently tucks away some of that gorgeous wavy hair of hers behind her ear. A good enough excuse to strum his thumb along the side of her head as his smile can only be described as gentle. Gentle and true. ]
This is for us. [ He'll take any "royal treatment" Corrin can give him. And give it right back. They can share in it together. ] That fair?
In other words, Cloud is once again all work and no play. I'm not really surprised. However! [ She squints at him. A serious look on her face. ] You're banned from doing anything work related or doing favors until we leave.
[ By now she has heard all sorts of stories about how the group of friends have traveled this world. They often talk about the odd things that random people would ask them to do and how often Cloud would just agree, even if he comes off as grumpy about it. All it really proves is how kind and sweet the man across from her is.
To the point where he can't just gracefully accept that this is all really meant for him. Cloud also has to include the dragon in on this. Her expression softens to one of fond exasperation at how he mentions that she crosses worlds for him. It's true, but it really isn't that big of a deal. In reality, it is much easier for her to do that than Cloud. Her siblings have their own kingdoms to rule and rebuild. Truthfully... Azura is the true heir to Valla. Or, rather, this new Valla. ]
It's because you're cute. [ It's teasing, but Corrin also means it. She finds Cloud cute. Adorable. Handsome. ] There's also the fact that I might like you, you know?
[ "Like" is an understatement at this point and they both know it. Corrin isn't quite ready to cede to Cloud's whims just yet, even if the fingers brushing her hair back feel good. Her eyes close for a moment, as if thinking about this. She sighs through her nose, enjoying the feel of Cloud's touch. Untucking one of her hands, she reaches out towards him in return; it's her fingers brushing along Cloud's jaw. Red eyes open again and they are full of affection for the blonde, more often than not wishing she could linger by his side for longer still. ]
Okay, okay. Promise not to do any work or favors while we're here.
[ But if someone desperately needs their help and he catches one solitary glance to the princess hinting that maaaybe they can hear them out? He doesn't want to get called out on going against his word! Yet it's the farthest thing from his mind, tucked in the very back when she teases him for being cute. A younger, less experienced merc may have trued to brusquely brush that off, or timidly look away. But he blushes instead, sighing with a faint shake in his breath.
Was she becoming an expert at stealing his lines? Did she know who she was? How captivating Corrin was? Charming. Beautiful. ...On a more salacious note, and perhaps more embarrassing to fess aloud, was just how hot she was. Everything from the waves of her hair, to her beautiful red eyes, to the warmth in her smile as he registers her playing around with how much she "likes" him. No...it's absolutely a little deeper than that. They've said as much in the past, and it wouldn't be the last for either one of them as he can't help tilting his head for her. Just enough to follow those slender fingers brushing his jawline. And she opens her eyes once more, stunting his heart all over again to the point that it's taking all his willpower not to just roll this cute girl over onto her back and peppering her with all the affection she deserves... ]
Maybe you still can... [ She can win against him. She has. Which is why, as he catches the tips of her fingers with a faint peck of a kiss, his eyes return to hers before he concludes with a cadence of softness: ] I already lost to you a long time ago.
[ She's had him beaten from the day they first met. He just didn't realize it then. ]
[ She smiles at him, a full and bright one. Now, sure, if someone really does need their help or it is an emergency situation of course she isn't going to stand by. Corrin simply hopes that nothing is going to happen that will require them to step in. If they stay at the beaches or within Costa del Sol itself then it shouldn't be an issue, right? Though a chocobo right would be interesting! Ideas of all of the things that they could do instead start to form in her mind.
Only to stop with the way that Cloud is looking at her. His blue eyes are so soft. Like the warm ocean waters themselves. It makes her cheeks heat up just a little and there's a moment where she has to remember to breathe. All of the teasing she does, Cloud takes it all in stride. Then hits her with statements like that which just makes her move towards Cloud. To hide her face into his chest. He shouldn't be allowed to say things like that! Her poor heart can't take it. ]
[ Got her. From the instant Corrin hides her face in his chest, he's already sliding a hand up into the back of her head, gently combing his fingers through cream-coloured hair as his guard has been completely dropped for her. If that poor little heart of hers couldn't take the truth, he'll just have to keep it safe and sound for both of them. It's all hitting him like a freight train now...the lengths Corrin was willing to go for his sake. And the effort that he was going to need to give her to show how much he appreciates it.
How much he's actually wanted something like this with the young princess. Could she hear it? How his own heart was hammering a little harder in his chest? The longing, deeper sigh of contentment that escapes him as he dips his head to brush a kiss against the top of it. He wasn't sleepy...but lying down like this got him feeling extra comfortable now. ]
Opposed to all the times you made me stutter? [ With her body tucked in against his lean yet harder frame, his free hand would have to venture blindly between the two of them to find hers. Should he find it, he'll take that hand too and give it a reassuring squeeze. ] In Lunatia...everywhere we went on Prismatica...since you got here...
[ Just wait until you are given your birthday present, Cloud...
His hands in her hair are calming. Somewhat. At least the intensity of her blush seems to die down a little. However, Corrin can still hear his heart beating. How does he maintain his stoicism while it flutters like a butterfly breaking out of a cocoon? What a paradoxical and infuriating man ( at times ). In response she slips her arm free and drapes it over Cloud's hip.
Now Corrin does at least want to get out tonight to have dinner. Maybe a drink. Everything else can wait until tomorrow. ]
Well... [ Cloud's hand finds her other one between them. She gives it a squeeze in return. ] It is adorable when you stutter. Every time it seems like you're surprised that I feel for you as I do.
[ The traced touch of Corrin's arm draping over his hip grabs his attention, coupled with her squeezing his hand as he looks into her eyes. ]
No... [ He has to set the record straight here for sure. And of course, he doesn't stammer for her every time; especially when he gets intimate enough with her. ] I'm not surprised.
[ Not anymore. Not with the ways he makes his heart pound. The way she makes it pound even now. ]
[ How lucky he is? Does... Cloud really not understand how it's the other way around? How can he be the lucky one here when it is Corrin that feels absolutely blessed?
She hums and continues to keep a hand at Cloud's hip. Maybe her thumb might sneak under the fabric of the man's shirt, if permitted. Still, the hand that holds her own is brought to her lips. Corrin kisses Cloud's knuckles - doesn't matter if they are gloved or not. ]
You're wrong. I think it's me who is lucky. [ Corrin smiles softly. ] You don't care about my status or my draconic blood. While you want to protect me, you don't treat me like I am glass or disrespect my wishes.
[ The princess leans up. Just enough to brush lips together. ]
I was sheltered for many years. It's true that I don't know many things about the world or about people, but you don't tease me or look down on me for it. Cloud, you instead look for chances to expand my world.
[ The affectionate brush of Corrin's lips upon his knuckles wasn't lost on him. And thankfully, he'd since peeled off his gloves since arriving in their summer suite. It's difficult not to feel a subtle shudder render down his spine as he has to temper his excitement. The reality and the weight of being left with the princess, alone, on a private beach getaway, was starting to sink in as she may attempt to sneak under the fabric of his shirt. If she does, he's not about to oppose her.
Though they may have to be careful... They had a whole day ahead of them. Did they really want to spend the first one entirely in bed? Temptation is getting stronger and stronger all the same. ]
Mm. Maybe... You make it fun to give you some of that royal treatment. [ Just as she leans up to brush their lips together, he closes his eyes with a deep breath through his nose, humming contently without the dire need to heat things up. It's gentle. Soft and slow. Everything that he could ask for right now as he finds himself growing increasingly comfier lying on his side with the draconic princess. ] But...let's just call it spoiling you.
[ Because it's everything that she deserves as much as this was for him. ]
If anyone deserves the world...I'm looking right at her.
[ In truth, she doesn't mind resting here for a bit. They can spend another hour or so just relaxing in this suite. After all, the plane ride had been long. Now they are in need of recovering from that, though Cloud might not need as long as Corrin. She still has to adjust to planes, considering they throw her slightly off balance and the like. But being alone in here is comfortable and not daunting at all.
She lingers close, not really doing anything to create heat in this moment. It's supposed to be soft and sweet. Warm and lingering, like small embers. They can get fired up after dinner or after Cloud starts seeing Corrin in that swimsuit if he wants, but she has plans at least for this. Maybe even walking around the shops and along the beach as it cools for the night.
Yet once more Cloud's words wrap around her, seemingly putting her right back into place. All of the things that she had just told him don't seem to change his perspective on it at all. There's a sigh that escapes her, exasperated but fond all the same. ]
You can't just let me have the last word on these things even once, can you?
[ The fact that Cloud's eyes were practically closed the entire plane ride over lent to him not having to fuss with his typical bouts of motion sickness. A blessing in disguise, really. As for what they're doing right now? He was of a like mind. Embers stoked, their mutual tenure in Lunatia had done a lot for helping them be more open with one another. It was just the nature of the world and how they exchanged Chroma, after all. Even without that positive thrumming sensation coursing through their bodies though...
This just felt right. Touching Corrin, his confidence growing and his affection for her building, he didn't need that rush of Chroma that enticed denizens of that planet to seek out more. It all felt so good with her. So right. His lips curve into a gentler smile when she lets out that exasperated, defeated little smile.
All so that he could lean in and brush his lips to the top of her head as they lay there in comfort. ]
Have at it, princess. [ It's a tender usage of her title...and he means it too. She can say the last thing and he'll stop. If only because he likes the sound of her voice. Though he does want to make sure and ask. ] Say when and we can get up and changed.
[ Not right now though. He's content to be here with her for a little longer. ]
[ That rush of Chroma is no longer needed, no. It's now something of a distant memory. An afterthought, really, just as it had been once they had gotten to know one another. When they had started to truly become more intimate - emotionally attached not just physical attraction at play. If it had been merely the physical, then it's doubtful that they would be here, like this, right now. That there would still be this lingering desire to see one another at this sort of capacity.
She feels his lips against her hair and she just huffs. It's a little bit of a pout, especially because Cloud is just humoring her now. How can Corrin truly get the last word in if Cloud is just going to hand it over to her like that. ]
You're still not being fair, Cloud. It's not really a victory when you do that.
[ Yet the princess doesn't really sound upset. She still carries that exasperated but fond tone in her voice. Though Corrin just shift so she can just bury her nose into the base of Cloud's neck. Yes, they can get changed at any moment. But she likes this warmth. ]
Next victory's yours. [ A beat as a smile plays upon his lips. ] Promise.
[ Feeling Corrin bury her nose into the crook of his neck sends a shiver down his spine, coaxing him to draw a deeper breath before loosing it with a deepened hum. That felt good, actually. An affectionate warmth that he finds himself subtly nuzzling himself against furthermore. ]
Mm. Ten-ish more minutes.
[ Another gentle kiss against the top of her head as he breathes deep of her scent, a smile gracing his lips when he gives to her just above a whisper: ]
Thank you, Corrin.
[ Not just for this trip. But for everything that she's shown him and given to him since the day they first met. ]
Vacation Time!
Apparently... Not so much. When Corrin thinks to ask said friends, all of them seem to not look directly at her. It's Tifa that talks about how she does worry from time to time - but less now.
[ This was why they packed swimwear...

I just can't win against you, can I?

You really know how to make me blush!
no subject

Every time it seems like you're surprised that I feel for you as I do.
no subject
No... [ He has to set the record straight here for sure. And of course, he doesn't stammer for her every time; especially when he gets intimate enough with her. ] I'm not surprised.
[ Not anymore. Not with the ways he makes his heart pound. The way she makes it pound even now. ]
Just thinking of how lucky I am.

She lingers close, not really doing anything to create heat in this moment. It's supposed to be soft and sweet. Warm and lingering, like small embers. They can get fired up after dinner
or after Cloud starts seeing Corrin in that swimsuitif he wants, but she has plans at least for this. Maybe even walking around the shops and along the beach as it cools for the night.Yet once more Cloud's words wrap around her, seemingly putting her right back into place. All of the things that she had just told him don't seem to change his perspective on it at all. There's a sigh that escapes her, exasperated but fond all the same. ]
You can't just let me have the last word on these things even once, can you?
no subject
no subject
She feels his lips against her hair and she just huffs. It's a little bit of a pout, especially because Cloud is just humoring her now. How can Corrin truly get the last word in if Cloud is just going to hand it over to her like that. ]
You're still not being fair, Cloud. It's not really a victory when you do that.
[ Yet the princess doesn't really sound upset. She still carries that exasperated but fond tone in her voice. Though Corrin just shift so she can just bury her nose into the base of Cloud's neck. Yes, they can get changed at any moment. But she likes this warmth. ]
How about ten more minutes?
no subject
