[ When the message comes through, the blond swordsman takes a moment to let everything Weiss said before sink in. Her relation to Yang. The incident at Haven. The kidnapping. That she couldn't be trusted. Everything that felt...in a way, at odds with the person he met earlier.

It wasn't that they were friends or anything. Nor have they committed to anything beyond simply holding her hand when Chroma got dangerously low. Unlocking his aura was very dangerous, and now it's like he's found himself delving deeper and deeper into this whole fray. ...whatever fray there was to begin with. He's had time to think about it. When push came to shove, and problems were to ever arise... ]

No. You don't need to. [ Whether it's because he believes everything Weiss said or he feels that Raven would simply confirm it all, none of it matters. ]

[It's a surprise to hear that. It was something she actually hoped for to happen, but didn't believe it would. She may never admit it, but Cloud had become someone she valued as company. It's not that they could be called friends - Raven Branwen didn't exactly have those - but... he was a positive encounter. One that she had hoped to keep.

She could ask him if he's sure, but from his tone she can pretty much tell. He's made a decision.]

[It's hard to say 'thank you'. But her tone at the very least sounds warm. Relieved. Not a tone she usually uses.]

I wanted to offer you moonlacing for leaving you on your own like that. I won't accept a no for an answer.

When you put it like that... [ No accepting "no", huh? Assuming he would reject her in the first place. Moonlacing came in all forms, after all. ] Don't be in a rush to pay me back.

[ Despite how she reacted...in the end, she unlocked his aura. ]

[She tries to put in some of her usual attitude, but there's a clear layer of 'regret' underneath that she's having a hard time masking.]

[Raven is quiet about that for a long, long while. Almost as if she disconnected, but when she speaks, her words are genuine and ... rare. Barely above whisper.]

[ When Raven thanks him, there's a bit of a pause on his end before a little 'hmph' can be heard on his end. But it's a little too soft to be anything apprehensive or condescending. It's thoughtful. He definitely wasn't expecting that from her. ]

[ Circumstances be damned, he intends on putting this newfound power awoken inside of him to good use. Thanks to her. ]

[It feels weird being thanked in return. So Raven doesn't say anything.

Instead, Cloud receives an attachment of her apartment location and number.]

Mm?

[ Cloud checks his device. And when he receives the attachment containing her address and number, he's quick to put it into a set list of contacts, staring at his screen as he takes a moment to acknowledge what he's done.

She kidnapped Weiss. Set herself as an enemy to her friends. She abandoned her daughter... And Cloud still didn't sever his ties. There was no mistaking the choice that he would ultimately make, should fate be so unkind to set everyone against one another. He's not so naïve to believe that he can help every single person, nor create a world of true peace. His ambitions were hardly considered grandiose. Weiss was his ally. He has taken her words to heart; he would side with her if push came to shove. ]

...

[ So then why was he still here? Maybe it's an unspoken trust he has, a gut feeling that on this world, no one would have to fight each other- that Raven and the others wouldn't need to cross blades.

Or maybe...it's because he knows how it feels to abandon his family. ]
